About

Nikki is a musical-theatre bookwriter/lyricist and opera librettist.

Her commissions include Michael Morpurgo's Why The Whales Came, for British Youth Musical Theatre, Love Me To Death, an opera about Ruth Ellis, which was performed at the Barbican Pit Theatre and the Tête à Tête Opera Festival, and Deptford Wives, an adaptation of the award-winning radio play, which was staged at E15 Acting School and the National Maritime Museum. Working alongside Ben Glasstone, Nikki is currently developing Mini, a glam-rock-fuelled musical about Michael ‘Mini’ Cooper, the charismatic child arsonist who became the focus of Franc Roddam’s seminal 1975 Inside Story BBC documentary, and writing the lyrics to a stage-musical adaptation of Tracy-Ann Oberman’s BBC R4 drama Bette and Joan and Baby Jane, exploring Bette Davis and Joan Crawford’s deep-seated rivalry on the set of Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?, with music by James Cleeve.

Nikki has an MA in Creative Writing (Screenwriting & Playwriting) from City, University of London. She is a graduate of the Criterion Theatre's new writing programme, a member of Mercury Musical Developments (MMD), and is on the Advanced Composer/Lyricist programme at BML (BOOK Music & Lyrics). She has variously worked as a session singer, touring bassist and French translator.
