Nikki Racklin is a bookwriter and lyricist. She was commissioned to write book and lyrics for the all-female musical FIRST LADIES for British Youth Music Theatre, and has now adapted Michael Morpurgo's WHY THE WHALES CAME, also for BYMT. LOVE ME TO DEATH, Nikki's modern opera about Ruth Ellis, was performed at the Barbican Pit Theatre, and closed last summer's Tête à Tête Opera Festival. Nikki has written the lyrics and additional book for a stage musical version of Jennie Buckman’s award-winning radio play, DEPTFORD WIVES, which was staged at E15 Acting School last October, with an Arts Council-funded R&D and concert performance scheduled for this July at the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich. Nikki’s stage musical adaptation of Morag Joss’s Silver Dagger Award-winning novel HALF BROKEN THINGS was recently presented at a book-in-hand sharing at the Tristan Bates Theatre, while her Soho-set musical adaptation of Henry James's THE WINGS OF THE DOVE is being showcased at the Criterion Theatre this November.
Nikki has an MA in Creative Writing (Screenwriting & Playwriting) from City, University of London. She is a member of Mercury Musical Developments (MMD), and is on the Advanced Composer/Lyricist programme at BML (BOOK Music & Lyrics) and the Criterion New Writing programme.
